You know how I am, I got the in the bath tub, shaved my legs and started packing my bag and Avery's bag, while the DH is going crazy rushing me cause Im in labor. He kept reminding me we have a 45 minute drive and have to drop off Alivia my 2 year old with MawMaw at 2:00 in the morning. But I was cool as a cucumber :) Of course cause even though my water broke I still had no contractions.
So, we arrived at the hospital and they admitted me as soon as they saw the water trickling down my legs. The nurse called the doctor cause I told them that I was a scheduled C-section and the doctor said that he would just check on me when he comes in a 7:00am. Yikes! I had to sit there in labor for 5 hours, which now I am starting to feel contractions. Which is a bit aggrevating when you know you are going to have a C-section anyway.
I will rewind to two years ago, when I was pregnant with Aliva (2 now). They had to induce me 2 days after my due date and after 20 hours in labor I still hadnt dialated past 6. UGGGG! I was getting feverish and Alivia's heartrate was dropping drastically at every contraction. The doctor finally came in and said, we have to deliver her right away and the only option is C-Section. Of course, I was horrified! But I knew exactly what was going cause I have watched so many baby delivery episodes on Discovery Health Channel that I am quite confident I could be an OBGYN and deliver babies and diagnose health issues....j/k lol!!
So anyways, back to recent day! The doctor came in at 7:00 am and said there are 4 other scheduled c-sections that day, yes, I said 4. Crazy! And since I wasnt in real bad pain. I was going to have to wait til noon! So we waited impatiently and noon finally came and the nurse came in to prep me for surgery. Much to my surprise, the nerves set in. I thought I was going to have a panic attack, even though I didnt show it. You would think on C-Section #2 it would be like riding a bike, no problem, right? But afterall, it is a major surgery and the thought of them sticking needles in my back and slicing open my stomach made my light headed. Its so hard to explain the way I felt walking in the operating room. It was like I was acting normal and talking normal, but I was outside my body and my body was heavy. So strange!
But I must say I had the best doctor in the world - Dr Gates! My C-section went awesome. And you know what happens next - I have a perfect, beautiful baby girl! Avery was 6lbs 6 oz and 18 inches long. Alivia was so excited to be a big sissy! So now are family is complete and Avery is now 5 weeks old and doing great! :)
